Shoring Completedat Overlake Hospital

Staff -- Pacific Builder and Engineer, 5/1/2006

Bellevue, Wash.— DBM Contactors Inc., Seattle, recently completed foundation and excavation support work for the Overlake Hospital and Medical Center South Tower Expansion project.

The project required installing a temporary anchored pile wall using 105 piles ranging from 35 feet to 48 feet deep and 194 anchors with loads up to 140 kips. The excavation support system spanned more than 30,000 square feet. The job also required drilling 14 monitoring and dewatering wells up to 75 feet deep, six small-diameter drilled pier foundations, and two elevator jack shafts.

GLY Construction was the general contractor; GeoEngineers was the Geotechnical consultant. DBM provided design/build services with design partner Ground Support, PLLC of Redmond, Wash.
