Portland— Seattle-based DBM Contactors Inc. recently completed a 20,000-square-foot temporary soil nail excavation support system for the 24th Place Condominiums in Portland.
The project involved installing 600 soil nails for lateral support with a 4-inch-thick mildly reinforced shotcrete wall. The excavation extended up to 50 feet below street level and covered approximately one-half of a city block in northwest Portland. Owner of the project is 24th Place Condominium LLC; Andersen Construction of Portland is the general contractor.
Additionally DBM has just completed the first phase of work on the US 20 realignment project between Corvallis and Newport, Ore. DBM, working with Hamilton Construction, is installing drilled shaft foundations for bridges for the new highway. Work on the project will resume in the spring of 2007.
