Seattle — Tom Armour, DBM Contractors Inc. president, was presented with the International Association of Foundation Drilling Quality Contractor of the Year Award at the ADSC's recent Annual Meeting and Equipment Exposition.
The award is given to contractors based on measured adherence to standards and specifications of their contracts, as well as documented conformance with internal written quality control plans, according to ADSC.
"This award is an acknowledgement of quality contracting work in the drilled foundation and anchored earth retention industries," said Armour. "As we continue to grow, quality and safety need to remain the focus of our everyday work and thought processes. Being awarded the best amongst our peers in quality raises the bar for us to continue to improve."
Seattle — Lease Crutcher Lewis has announced 15 additions to its staff recently.
Gary C. Leaf was named director of information technology, a newly created position. He has 30 years of IT experience.
Bill Soga is a new project manager in the Tacoma office. He has 24 years of experience and holds a bachelor's degree in construction engineering management from Cal State Sacramento.
New project engineers include Lee Lei, Tim Callahan and Mark Kamin in the Commercial Division, plus Dillon Eugenio, Matt Robinson and Simon Kim.
Sophia Santini, Abigail Taylor, Karen Romero, and Danielle Morello will work as project assistants. Also new are Rachel Roderick, executive assistant in the Tacoma office, Angela Murphy, executive assistant in the Seattle office, and Tyler Small, accounts payable assistant in the Seattle office.
Wapato, Wash. — The U.S. Small Business Administration has named Juan De La Torre and Jaime De La Torre of DLT Construction as the Region X Prime Contractors of the Year for 2007.
The award recognizes small businesses that provide outstanding goods and services for government procurement.
Moxee, Wash. — Mike Poppoff, president of Poppoff Inc., has been elected as one of four 2007 vice presidents of the American Society of Concrete Contractors.
Boise — Darrell Richards has joined McAlvain Construction as senior project manager.
Richards has heavy construction experience in Nevada and holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Northern Arizona University.
Anchorage — Steelfab has hired Carl Blocker Sr. as quality control inspector.
Blocker, a quality control inspector since 1990, has 26 years of experience in steel fabrication and is a Certified Welding Inspector.
Steelfab, the steel service center and steel fabricator with the largest volume capacity in Alaska, has been in business in Anchorage since 1948.
Everett, Wash. — Kevin Graham has been promoted to senior project manager at Mayes Testing Engineers.
A former inspector with 13 years of experience, Graham will now be responsible for management tasks, overseeing inspection staff and supervising on-site inspections.
Bellevue, Wash. — Rafn Co. recently hired Luther Sligh as senior project manager.
Sligh has 29 years of construction experience.
