The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute has issued a call for entries for its annual Engineering Student Design Award Contest. Competition calls for teams of students to fabricate and test a precast, prestressed concrete beam with help from local precast concrete producers. Cash prizes will be awarded for the most efficient design, highest load capacity, best report, and other categories, such as mix design and innovative design. Overall champion will be chosen from the first-place winners in each of six PCI zones and the international winners who are considered a seventh zone. The deadline to submit applications is March 15, 2008, to the PCI office, 209 W. Jackson Blvd., Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60606.
