Staff -- Construction News, 3/3/2008

Troy, Ohio— Dean Phillips, manager of welding engineering at Hobart Brothers Company, has been named Alumnus of the Year by the Materials Joining Engineering department at LeTourneau University. Phillips, who has worked for Hobart Brothers since December 1989, was recognized for his ongoing financial contributions and support of the department's programs. He is a 1971 graduate of the university's Longview, Texas, campus.

LeTourneau University president, Dr. Dale A. Lunsford, along with Greg Pike, chairman of the advisory committee for the department, presented Phillips with the award at the 2007 FABTECH International/AWS Welding Show in Chicago.

"I would like to thank LeTourneau University for this award and Illinois Tools Works (ITW — parent company of Hobart Brothers) for their support. I also want to thank my family for all the sacrifices they continuously made throughout the years. Without them, I would not have received this honor," says Phillips.

Hobart Brothers Company of Troy, Ohio, is a leading manufacturer of welding filler metals marketed under the brand names Hobart, Tri-Mark, Corex, and McKay. Hobart Brothers Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Illinois Tool Works, Inc., Glenview, Ill., a diversified multinational manufacturer of highly engineered components, assemblies and systems.
