Long-time Canadian heavyweight boxing champion George Chuvalo helped Champion Motor Graders, Charlotte, N.C., launch its newest and largest motor graders – the C110 C and C116 C Series – during the recent Conexpo-Con/Agg trade show in Las Vegas, Nev.
Bryan Abernathy, Champion’s vice president of sales and marketing, said Chuvalo’s family values and strength of character are an inspiration to all at Champion Motor Graders, a family-operated business for over 25 years.
Chuvalo reigned as Canadian heavyweight boxing champion from 1958 until 1979. Ranked in the top 10 of the boxing world for much of his career with 74 wins (67 by knockout).
He retired in 1979 as the undisputed heavyweight champion of Canada, was inducted into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 1990, and inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in 1997.
Today, Chuvalo conveys a powerful message against drug use, giving examples of what he has witnessed first hand, having lost three sons and a wife to substance abuse.
In October 1998, he proudly received the "Order of Canada," one of the country’s highest awards, in recognition of his work and dedication to Canadian youth.
Champion Motor Graders specializes in development of compact graders and attachments. Its product line currently includes seven basic models with operating weights from 12,800 to 24,000 lbs., featuring a full range of single-axle, tandem and all-wheel 4x4 and 6x6 drive systems.
