MOBA Motor Grader System

Staff -- Associated Construction Publications, 5/1/2008

The GS-506 grade control system for graders and dozers was developed by MOBA Corporation to deliver the highest possible productivity through its user-friendly interface, while also allowing for quick set-up, multiple sensor options and increased operator efficiency — all to deliver the most precise control of the blade.

The GS-506 controller (the heart of the system) is equipped with the latest processor technology. Data delivered from its sensor will be handled efficiently and necessary corrections routed to the respective valves.

A distinctive feature of the control panel is its new ergonomic design. The integrated shield combined with its manual contrast control allows for clear reading in all light conditions. And the intelligent architecture of the software guides the user through all functions of the system and allows for easy adjustments.

Sensor Technology

Five sensors are used to control the blade. Rotation, long-slope, and cross-slope measurements are all combined with either the MOBA SonicSki+ and/or the new LS-3000 laser receiver.

MOBA SonicSki+ is a precise ultrasonic sensor with extended side-shift-functions and a working range of up to four feet. Six transducers along with the company's proprietary software allow the operator to use the system easily over a stringline, edge of curb, or ground.

The MOBA Laser Receiver LS-3000 shows its full strength in the grading of large areas. Further advantages are its high accuracy and its full 360-degree detection range. In addition, the optional MOBA Electric-Mast is controlled through the GS-506 controller, allowing for quick/easy height adjustment of the laser receiver.

The modular design of the system allows upgrading from a basic 2D grade and slope system, into a total 3D control system using either a robotic total station or GPS receiver.
