AISC Names Carter Vice President and Chief Structural Engineer

Charles J. Carter, P.E., S.E., has been named vice president and chief structural engineer for the American Institute of Steel Construction.

Carter joined AISC in 1991 as a staff engineer and for the past seven years has been the Institute’s chief structural engineer. He has been a leader and active participant in the ongoing development of AISC’s Specifications, Code of Standard Practice, and Steel Construction Manual.

Carter succeeds his mentor, Louis F. Geschwindner, an emeritus professor at The Pennsylvania State University. He is assuming a new role with AISC as vice president – special projects, and initially will be working with Carter on growing AISC’s university and continuing education programs.
