The American Society of Civil Engineers' Structural Engineering Institute (ASCE/SEI) announced it will conduct a public comment on its new Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic Stacks standards. The public comment period will be held from May 20 through July 8, 2008.

The standard applies to both single and multiple-walled fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) stacks, FRP stacks that are guyed, and to certain aspects of tower stacks. The standard covers definitions, materials, mechanical and structural design, vibration, access, safety, electricity, fabrication, erection, inspection and maintenance.
