Orion Lands Port Contract

Staff -- Texas Contractor, 6/16/2008

Orion Marine Group, Inc., a leading marine contractor serving the heavy civil marine infrastructure sector, has been awarded a contract of nearly $25 million to design and build a new dock for a private customer in South Texas. The project will consist of the construction of a 1,000-foot-long steel/concrete bulkhead with a 700-foot-long concrete pile-supported wharf out in front of the bulkhead. Additionally, the company will install a fender system on the face of the wharf to allow for ship and barge traffic, as well as dredging the area to accommodate dock traffic. Construction of the dock is expected to commence in fourth quarter of 2008.
