Construction Career Days In Charlotte
By Christina Fisher -- Construction, 6/23/2008
Over 1,500 students from around the Charlotte, N.C., region came to Metrolina Fairgrounds from April 22–24 to get some first-hand construction experience. In addition to booths hosted by local community colleges and universities, vendors and associations, there were hands-on opportunities for masonry, electrical work, carpentry and drywall. Local equipment dealers offered students the chance to operate various types of equipment from excavators to skid steers.
Organized by the North Carolina Department of Transportation and actively supported by local association chapters such as the Charlotte Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction, the Construction Industry Education Coalition, ABC of the Carolinas and the Carolinas AGC, among others, as well as many local dealers and vendors, Construction Career Days continues to grow and teach students about construction as a career choice.
