RSC Opens New Denver Training Facility

-- Associated Construction Publications, 9/30/2008

RSC Training FacilityRSC Equipment Rental has turned unused office space in its Denver, Colo. branch #290 location on 40th Ave. into a four classroom complex, home to its new training facility where it is offering courses in sales and leadership.

In addition to two general purpose classrooms, a Relavis classroom with computer stations and a Supplier Training Room featuring a shop floor for the hands-on portion of the Product Knowledge training are available.

Recognized for its superior customer service, RSC Equipment Rental rents small and large equipment to the non-residential construction and industrial sectors. RSC is the second largest rental equipment company in North America, after United Rentals. It has annual revenues of $1.79 billion and a market capitalization of $1.17 billion.

While it is uncertain whether the region will see an increase in the number of jobs, RSC will increase traffic to Denver when it sends several of its 5,332 employees to the training center each year.

"The reaction to the facility from trainees and other RSC employees has been very positive," said Steve Best, manager, training.  "The facility not only fits our short term goals, but it allows for future expansion and additional courses."

Taking advantage of the newer space, an intense, week-long course, the New Outside Sales Curriculum, now combines Relavis, Time & Territory Planning, Selling Skills Level One and Product Knowledge. These courses teach proven "money making skills," as documented through the actual performance of outside sales representatives who have completed them (separately) in the past.

"We are providing these tools earlier in their RSC career to achieve success," said Best.  "Armed with these core sales competencies, we anticipate that, if applied, they should see an increase in rental revenue and the Company should experience a reduction in our sales force turnover."
