Connecticut Associated Builders and Contractors holds awards dinner in Plantsville

Connecticut Associated Builders & Contractors (CTABC) held their 4th annual Excellence in Construction awards dinner at the Aqua Turf Club, Plantsville, Conn., on January 27 to honor local merit-shop companies who completed outstanding construction projects in 2004.
Companies recognized included Robinson & Cole, Associate Member of the Year; CLS, Supplier Member of the Year; New England Mechanical Service, Specialty Contractor of the Year; All State Boiler & Construction, Inc. and Konover Construction Corporation, TEAM award winners; and Select Energy Contracting, Inc., Merit Cup winner.
Best In Show was awarded to Konover Construction Company, of Farmington, Conn., for their role as construction manager in the Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Inc. project. The special Jury Award for Uniqueness of Project and Design was awarded to Petra Construction Corporation, North Haven, Conn., for their role as building contractor for the University of New Haven Dormitory and Food Service Center.
First Place, Excellence in Construction Awards was also presented to the following companies:
Cianbro Corporation, East Haven office, for Heavy Infrastructure Vertical Lift Span Bridge in Buzzards Bay, Mass.
Select Energy Inc. of Bristol, for electrical work at Church of Saint Mary, Star of the Sea
Kronenberger & Sons Restoration of Middletown, for renovation of historic building at Springfield (Mass.) Community Technical College
Allstate Boiler & Construction of Farmington, for industrial classification work at CCSU's Energy Center & Utility Tunnel
Enterprise Builders of Hartford, in the institutional category, for work at Central Conn. ARC Offices and Training Facility
New England Mechanical Services of Trumbull, for mechanical work at ADVO Branch Facility Project
Kovacs Construction Corporation, in public works category, for work at New Canaan High School Service Pumping Station.
Awards were presented to Senator Len Fasano (R) as House Senator of the year and Representative James Amann (D) as House Representative of the Year.
Speakers at the event also included five House Representatives and State Senators, including Senator Len Fasano (R), Senator Louis DeLuca (D), Speaker of the House James Amann (D), Representative Raymond Kalinowski (R), and Representative Anne Ruwet (R).
Connecticut Associated Builders and Contractors (CTABC), a chapter of the national Associated Builders and Contractors, is comprised of 220 merit shop member-firms in Connecticut.
