Acronyms and Alligator Alley
August 27, 2008
Not long ago we talked about moves in the direction of leasing Alligator Alley – a 78-mile section of Interstate 75 in southern
Just this week the FDOT Project Selection Committee (PSC) has released the short list of proposers. The PSC held a public meeting in
That’s a lot of acronyms, but the bottom line is significant for the proposed project. The Project Selection Committee previously determined the factors to be considered in the scoring of the SOQs. They also established the relative weighting of the technical and financial components of the SOQs as well as the numerical points assigned to the Project Scoring Committee’s ratings of Excellent, Good, Fair and Poor.
Prior to the meeting, the Scoring Committee members had individually evaluated the six SOQs and provided the results to the Procurement Office. The Procurement Office revealed the converted and weighted numerical scores to the Project Selection Committee during this meeting.
Can I have the envelope, please?
Taking into consideration the Scoring Committee’s evaluation and converted scores, the Project Selection Committee has short-listed the following firms to be invited to submit a formal proposal for the possible leasing of Alligator Alley:
· A2 Transportation Partners
· The Alligator Alley Development Partners
· Atlantia S.p.A.
·
·
· Vinci Concessions
Yesterday, FDOT moved to the next step with a request for sealed proposals from the shortlisted teams "to receive the possible right to lease, maintain, operate and receive toll revenues" from Alligator Alley through a Public-Private Partnership (P3, another acronym, but a very useful one in these days of uncertain funding) Concession Agreement. The RFP is available on the official project website (www.alligator-alley.com).
Two more public workshops regarding the possible leasing will be held in September - one in Naples on Sept. 16, and a second in Weston on Sept. 17.
So there you have it. As they say on TV, more details when they become available.
