    Valero Energy Corp., San Antonio, TX, was the successful bidder at an auction sale to buy eight ethanol plants owned by VeraSun Energy Corp., Sioux Falls, SD. On April 1, transactions closed on plants in Charles City, Fort Dodge and Hartley, IA; Aurora, SD; and Welcome, MN, for $350 million.
