Equipment Exports Up 20% 5/18/2009
U.S. construction equipment exports rose 20% from 2007 to 2008 at more than $20.7 billion, according to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. South America bought $3.3 billion of equipment, a 44% increase over 2007, and Asia took delivery of $3 billion worth of U.S. construction equipment, a 25% increase. More
Stormwater Association Formed 05/18/2009
The Stormwater Equipment Manufacturers Association was formed to support the regulatory and engineering communities as well as individual cities and states, in implementing the Clean Water Act. The association, based in St. Paul, MN, consists of organizations involved in the manufacture of stormwater quality solutions.

Roland Machinery Co. Holds First Business Expo Story by Mike Larson, Editor - 04/20/2009
Near the end of February, Roland Machinery Co. held its first-ever business solutions expo. The event at Roland's Wisconsin Division headquarters in De Pere drew about 250 customers from as far away as Eau Claire, WI, and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The attendance would have gone even higher if one of the winter's worst blizzards hadn't lashed into the area in mid afternoon.

Dear Western Builder Readers, I am sad to say that this is the final edition of Western Builder. Since its founding in 1902, this hardy magazine has survived two world wars, the Great Depression of the 1930s, and several more recent recessions. Unfortunately, it has now been killed off by the difficult current economic climate that is affecting all kinds of printed publications.
