SAN FRANCISCO, CA Skanska announces that it has been awarded a $170 million contract from the University of California - San Francisco (UCSF), to build two buildings of below market-rate housing for graduate students and trainees in the city's Mission Bay neighborhood.

Skanska USA Building will include the full value of the contract in its Q4 2017 order bookings. The architect of record is Kieran Timberlake who, along with other project partners, has located together with Skanska on-site to coordinate efficient, Lean delivery of the project.

The project will consist of 390,000 square feet of housing that will include nearly 600 units that can accommodate up to 810 medical students and trainees. The site is comprised of two, 40,000-square-foot parcels located at 590 and 600 Minnesota St., approximately one block south of the UCSF Mission Bay campus. One building will be six levels including one level of on-grade parking. The other will be six levels plus one level of below grade parking.

The project is a part of UCSF's effort to creating new housing that both adds to the University's overall affordable housing options and simultaneously lessens the UCSF community's reliance on the city's general rental market. As housing prices in San Francisco have skyrocketed, UCSF remains committed to finding solutions to keep it affordable for its graduate students and trainees.

Construction is under way and the project will be completed in time for the 2019-20 school year.
