S. M. Wilson Selected to Build $16M of Renovations and Additions at High School

ST. LOUIS, MO Ed Kerkhover, AIA, of Kerkhover + Studio + Architects and Harrisburg Community Unit School District Number 3 selects S. M. Wilson and Co. to build $16 million of renovations and additions at the District's high school in Harrisburg, Illinois. The 53,563-square-foot project will feature demolition of the school's current gymnasium, construction of a new gymnasium, and replacement of the school's current Building "˜C' with a new classroom building.
The new gymnasium will be built first and will be used to provide temporary classrooms when the existing gymnasium is demolished. The new Building "˜C' will be built on the site of the existing gymnasium and will feature a cafeteria on the lower level plus two levels of academic space. The first floor will feature consumer science classrooms and laboratory, plus a media center, computer laboratory and offices. The science department will be located on the second floor and include six classrooms, two indoor laboratories and one outdoor laboratory.
Construction will begin immediately and is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2017. S. M. Wilson will provide Pre-Construction and Construction Management services. Kerkhover + Studio + Architects is architect for the project.
