NEW ORLEANS, LA GraceHebert Architects, Recovery School District, Orleans Parish School Board and Einstein Charters Schools celebrated the official ribbon cutting of Sherwood Forest Elementary in New Orleans East. Students, parents, community members and staff came together for the momentous occasion at the state-of-the-art building at 4801 Maid Marion. Patrick Dobard, Superintendent, Recovery School District, led the ceremony that featured remarks from special guests, city officials and student performances.

The elementary school for grades Pre-K through 8th features traditional classrooms and flexible teaching spaces that are used to enhance the learning environment for students. These flexible spaces are used for student collaboration, group leaning, and gathering. Classrooms are lined with large window that allow natural daylight to fill the space. Direct access to the gymnasium, commons areas, media center and music room allowed for shared community use throughout the school. The 110,000-square-foot elementary school in the New Orleans East area serves 788 students. The project achieves LEED Silver certification for Schools New Construction and Major Renovations.
