ISC's Chairman Meets with US Secretary of Education

BATON ROUGE, LA ISC's Chairman, Eddie Rispone, recently had an opportunity to attend a meeting between ABC National and Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos, to discuss educational opportunities for the construction industry. In attendance were the National President and CEO of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Mike Bellaman, and Vice President of Health, Safety, Environment and Workforce Development, Greg Sizemore.Â
The meeting took place in Washington, D.C., and included two construction professionals who shared how ABC programs have allowed them to focus on a career in construction and achieve life goals for their respective families. This meeting underscored the importance of assisting Americans in procuring jobs, developing a competent workforce, while supporting a shared desire to promote adult educational opportunities. The benefits of ABC's comprehensive education programs, which prepare participants for a lifelong career in the construction industry, were among the topics discussed. Â
As Chairman of the Louisiana Federation for Children, Rispone has had the opportunity to work with Secretary DeVos for several years while she served as the Chairman of the American Federation for Children. The Louisiana Federation for Children is a project of the American Federation for Children, which is the national voice for educational choice to ensure that children have a quality education.
Rispone said, "I wanted to take the opportunity to be there personally to share with Secretary DeVos my involvement with ABC over the years; and explain how ABC has been collaborating with the education systems throughout the country, developing careers for all Americans."
