ABC Pelican Honors 2017 Excellence in Construction Award Winners

BATON ROUGE, LA The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Pelican Chapter honored 24 projects in 10 categories ranging from commercial buildings to industrial mega projects at its annual Excellence in Construction Awards held at the Baton Rouge Hilton.
The Excellence in Construction Awards Program is the industry's leading competition that honors both general and specialty contractors for innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects. The award honors all construction team members, including the contractor, owner, architect and engineer.
"I am proud to honor the commitment to quality, innovation, and world-class safety that these ABC members brought to the jobsite throughout the planning, execution and delivery of each of these projects," said 2017 ABC Pelican Chair Andy Lopez. "The scope of this year's Excellence in Construction award-winning projects, from restaurants and hospitals to sports stadiums and industrial mega projects, demonstrates that the merit shop can build anything, on time, on budget and safely."
The winning projects were judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety and cost. A panel of industry experts served as the competition's judges. This year's panel included representatives from the Alliance Safety Council, the Louisiana Chemical Association, Associated General Contractors, the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors, LSU's Construction Management Program, the University of Southern Mississippi, and Baton Rouge Community College.Â
Among the big winners of the night were Cajun Industries with four awards and Arkel Constructors and Barriere Construction Co. with three awards apiece. A full list of Excellence in Construction Award winners is available on ABC Pelican's Web site.
