Esposito Named Young Civil Engineer of the Year by ASCE New Jersey

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ Steve Esposito, a Lead Structural Engineer in the Lawrenceville, New Jersey, office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, has been named Young Civil Engineer of the Year by the New Jersey Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Since joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff in 2008, Esposito has worked on many high-profile projects. He has been involved with the structural design and construction of the Route 72 Manahawkin Bay Bridges project, a $318 million undertaking divided into five separate design and construction contracts. He was responsible for the design of all structural aspects of the new bridge, in-depth evaluation of the existing timber piles for the rehabilitated trestle bridges, scour countermeasure design, supervision of CADD drafters, and coordination with other disciplines, subconsultants, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and the contractor.

On the Route 37 eastbound and westbound bridges over Barnegat Bay, Esposito has been responsible for structural design of emergency scour damage repairs necessitated by Superstorm Sandy in addition to the total deck replacement design and construction for the eastbound bridge. He has made numerous technical presentations on the complex repair process, including speaking at conferences sponsored by the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers and New Jersey chapter of the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) as well as the International Bridge Conference, and National Accelerated Bridge Construction Conference.

A licensed professional engineer in New Jersey, Esposito received Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering from Rutgers University. In addition to ASCE, he is active in ASHE.
