LFD Tops Out 7th Avenue Project at Reading Hospital

WEST READING, PA LF Driscoll and Reading Health System celebrated the milestone of placing the final structural beams in place atop the new patient tower at Reading Hospital in West Reading, Pennsylvania.
The Seventh Avenue Project will be a combination surgical and inpatient tower that includes seven patient-care levels. This new facility will combine the hospital's many surgical services into one of the region's most technologically advanced and sophisticated surgical centers.
The new building will face Seventh Avenue in West Reading and adjoin the hospital's most recently constructed patient-care building, N-Building. This allows the existing Emergency Department and Trauma Center to be expanded by 21,000 square feet, adding 15 emergency treatment rooms and four trauma bays - a vital necessity for Pennsylvania's highest volume emergency department.
In addition to the clinical areas, the Seventh Avenue Project will also include an all-new 88,000-square-foot Healing Garden high atop the facility. This new "Green Roof" will be the largest of its kind in Pennsylvania and the third largest green roof on a healthcare building in the United States, making up more than 72 percent of the building's overall footprint.
