Heffernan Joins AKRF, Inc.
NEW YORK, NY AKRF, Inc. welcomes Audrey Heffernan, LEED AP, to the firm as a Vice President in the Transportation Planning and Environmental Services group.
Heffernan has 28 years of experience in the public and private sector managing and directing planning and environmental programs, and advancing projects from concept development through construction. She has navigated some of the most controversial projects in the New York, New York, metropolitan area through the environmental review process, in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.
Heffernan adds to AKRF, Inc. her particular expertise in transportation planning and overseeing environmental compliance on major infrastructure projects, with her most recent experience as Chief of Planning, Development and Environmental Services for MTA Capital Construction. She served as agency liaison on the MTA's Blue Ribbon Commission on Sustainability and prior public sector roles included Director of Planning and External Relations for the MTA Long Island Rail Road East Side Access Project.
She contributed to the development of a number of sustainability initiatives on MTA's mega-projects, oversaw the LEED certification process for Fulton Transit Center, and is an expert in planning and environmental analyses performed to satisfy the requirements found in the Federal Transit Administration, Federal Highway Administration, and Federal Railroad Administration regulations and guidance documents, and the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act, New York City Environmental Quality Review and New Jersey's Executive Order 215.
