FAIRFAX, VA Dewberry is serving as the lead designer on the L.K. Comstock & Company, Inc. (a subsidiary of RailWorks Corporation) combination design-bid-build and design-build team for the $66 million installation of a second track, expanding the Long Island Rail Road Ronkonkoma Branch from Farmingdale Station to approximately one mile west of the Central Islip Station.

The expansion of a second track on the Ronkonkoma Branch will provide more capacity during peak and off-peak hours to meet existing and future service and ridership demands.

The design-build portion of the project includes two new stations. The firm's work at Wyandanch Station includes the design of two 1,020-foot-long platforms, a new pedestrian bridge with elevators in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, canopy structures, and an integral snow melting system in the platforms. Pinelawn Station includes the design of two 192-foot platforms, passenger shelters, parking, and site improvements.
