Thompson Machinery Hosts Excavator Demo Day
LAVERGNE, TN — The heat index of 105-degrees didn’t keep contractors away from Thompson’s Demo Days held at Thompson Machinery’s LaVergne, Tennessee, store.
The event was part of a series of demonstrations available to construction equipment owners, contractors, and their employees being held at Thompson Machinery's Jackson, Clarksville, and Cookeville, Tennessee; and Macon and Louisville, Mississippi, stores.
Construction equipment owners and their employees were given a chance to get time in the seat of a Caterpillar excavator and experience first-hand the latest Caterpillar Connect Grade technology on a variety of excavator demonstrations. Thompson product experts were on hand to give demonstrations and answer questions. Also available were Caterpillar dozers, off road trucks, and road graders for attendees to operate.
Dean Carroll, of Middle Tennessee Infrastructure (MTI), attended the demonstration day event and said, “We’ve been a Thompson customer for five years so we came to check out the new equipment. Thompson’s been good to us with both rental equipment and new equipment.”
SITECH Tri-Rivers was there to answer any questions about Trimble products. SITECH Tri-Rivers is the authorized dealer for Trimble heavy and highway construction products and services, as well as Accugrade grade-control products in middle and west-Tennessee, and north-Mississippi.
Their product lines include 2-D and 3-D grade control, paving control, site positioning, construction asset management, software, laser levels, construction lasers, optical instruments, accessories and supplies.
Aubrey Aden, SITECH Tri-Rivers General Manager, said, “Cat Connect Grade technology works into the fleet system of the contractor. Once they have it one on a single piece of equipment, customers see nothing but a huge jump in production.”
SITECH Tri-Rivers is a certified repair center and can install Trimble machine control systems on motorgraders, dozers, excavators and scrapers/scraper pans. SITECH Tri-Rivers has locations in Nashville, and Memphis, Tennessee.
CAT EMSolutions was also on hand at the event to talk to customers about Thompson’s fleet management. CAT EMSolutions is a portfolio of tech-enabled services focused on developing equipment management solutions to construction customers. It’s a series of five levels that include:
Level 1: Access, which enables contractors to track and analyze critical information about their equipment.
Level 2: Inform helps the contractor stay up-to-date with timely reporting. Thompson delivers notifications at the overall fleet level that helps the contractor determine if there are areas of concern, like excessive idle time.
Level 3: Advise means an equipment advisor - from Thompson Machinery - helps the contractor manage their fleet for maximum efficiency, lowest cost of ownership, and highest availability.
Level 4: Support helps the contractor stay on track with preventative maintenance. Performing regular and timely maintenance is a key component of lowering owning and operating costs.
Level 5: Manage helps the contractor stay focused on their business by reducing unscheduled repairs and downtime, ensuring fixed operating and maintenance costs, and partnering with Thompson CAT to optimize fleet performance, availability, and lifecycle planning.
Those who attended Thompson Machinery's Demo Days received a CAT hat and a chance to win a free, one-week excavator rental, up to a model 329 in size. There was also plenty of grilled food available provided by Thompson Machinery.
