Griffin Electric Wires ADAL Distributed Ground Station Facility for National Guard’s 117th Air Refueling Wing

HOLLISTON, MA — Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. (Griffin Electric), a leading area electrical subcontractor, is currently providing installation work on the ADAL Distributed Ground Station Facility in Birmingham, Alabama, for the United States Air National Guard’s 117th Air Refueling Wing. The project, which is expected to be complete by November 2016, consists of a renovation and remodel of two buildings totaling 28,500 square feet of space.
Building 204 and Building 495 will be used to support the 117th Air Refueling Wing’s mission to “provide quality worldwide air refueling, airlift, support, logistics, intelligence, and medical services” for the betterment of their community, the state of Alabama, and the nation.
The interior of Building 204 was demolished to accommodate for a temporary server room and operations floor while the demolition, addition, and remodel of Building 495 takes place. Griffin Electric recently implemented a new 1,000-amp, 3-phase service in Building 204.
The Griffin team will be responsible for installing a new switchgear and panels, fixtures, an underfloor distribution system, fire alarm system, tele-data, and a mass-evacuation system in Building 495.
The project team also consists of three Montgomery, Alabama, -based organizations, including Southeast Cherokee Construction, Inc., project manager, Seay Seay & Litchfield, P.C., architect, and Gunn & Associates, electrical engineer.
