Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Celebrates Opening of Ozinga South Florida

MIAMI, FL — To celebrate the company’s growth in the South Florida market, Ozinga held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at their new Miami, Florida, facility, located at 2175 NW 17th Avenue. Executives and coworkers from the company, representatives from local government entities, and industry professionals were in attendance to officially welcome Ozinga to South Florida.
The 89-year-old company’s decision to enter South Florida demonstrates confidence in the recovering economy, steady growth in the construction industry, and a strong testament to future residential, commercial, industrial and infrastructure jobs.
Justin Ozinga, co-owner and President of Ozinga’s ready mix operation, kicked off the event by sharing the company’s history and business strategy as well as their excitement for the new endeavor.
“We could not be more excited to start business here in this beautiful city of Miami,” said Ozinga. “We can’t wait to build relationships and make a difference here in the community. While we’ve built this beautiful facility, we’re more interested in impacting people’s lives and making the community a better place to live.”
Jose F. Diaz, Jr., Vice President and General Manager, also spoke on the company’s newfound presence in the local community. “Ozinga’s expansion into South Florida is committed not only to the city of Miami, but we’re looking to create better jobs and create more tax revenue for the state and the city. We look forward to building new homes and infrastructure in a sustainable manner that’s here for many generations after us.”
City of Miami Commissioners Wilfredo Gort and Frank Carollo discussed the opportunities Ozinga will bring to Miami and the surrounding neighborhoods.
“They say in order to have a great building, you need to have a solid foundation,” said Carollo. “For four generations, this company has been providing quality building materials that make these buildings great.”
Jonathan Moses from Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez’s office presented Ozinga with a plaque welcoming the company to the city.
Known for its iconic red and white striped trucks, Ozinga supplies concrete, aggregate materials, and energy solutions to a wide array of customers. Ozinga also offers transportation and logistics services through an extensive network of truck, rail, barge and ship terminals.
The company was founded by Ozinga’s great-grandfather in the Chicago area in 1928 and has remained a family-owned business ever since.
“We truly are a family business, and the secret to our success over all four generations has been the employees—the extended family we work with,” said Martin Ozinga III, third-generation owner. “We’re excited to be part of a larger family here in Miami.”
Martin Ozinga IV, co-owner and current President, eluded to the company’s continued growth in the area. “We think it’s very important to be a good steward of what we’re entrusted with. When you see all the talent, hard work and sweat, that’s what’s exciting for us. Business brings people together, and this is just the beginning for us down here.”
The new Ozinga South Florida operation will be managed by Jose F. Diaz, Jr., Vice President and General Manager, Pepe Diaz, Vice President of Business Development, and JC Calleiro, Vice President of Sales. Each of these professionals offer years of experience in the concrete industry as well as the South Florida marketplace.
