Heffernan Joins Dewberry to Support Southeast Initiatives

FAIRFAX, VA — Dewberry announces that Paul Heffernan, PE, has been hired as a Senior Project Manager in the firm’s Pensacola, Florida, office.
Having worked in the stormwater management and transportation industries for more than 13 years, Heffernan has extensive knowledge in the design and implementation of highways, roadways, stormwater management facilities and conveyance systems, natural stream systems, environmental restoration, and regulatory permitting. He has served as the lead design engineer on numerous projects, including the development of design studies that investigate alternative upgrade scenarios, cost estimates, and construction plans and specifications. With a background in in hydrology and hydraulic design, Heffernan’s expertise lies in stormwater modeling, highway drainage design, erosion control, and environmental restoration. His transportation background emphasizes highway design and safety evaluation, accessible pedestrian routes, and construction inspection.
Prior to joining Dewberry, Heffernan worked for a consulting firm in the Gulf Coast region providing engineering services for municipal clients, including limited access highways, stormwater retrofit design, flood control infrastructure, and watershed master planning. Since joining Dewberry, he has been involved with various projects throughout Florida, including a stormwater master plan for Cinco Bayou and management of an urban residential development in Escambia County that will offer 78 lots.
Heffernan earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida. He is a member of the Florida Engineering Society’s northwest chapter and serves on the committee for MATHCOUNTS, a nationwide math competition for middle school students.
