SOUTHFIELD, MI The greater Holland, Michigan, community celebrated the groundbreaking of the Holland Energy Plant. Barton Malow will serve as EPC Contractor for the new 145-megawatt combined-cycle, natural gas plant for the city of Holland. The energy park is designed to be a natural, park-like setting complete with walking paths, a waterfall and extensive natural greenery and wildflowers.

The energy park is slated for substantial completion by 2017 and will feature a bold, modern design that creates an eastern gateway to the city.  Upon completion, the energy plant will double the fuel efficiency of Holland's present power generation, attain a 50 percent reduction in carbon emissions, and will expand on Holland's innovative snowmelt system.

Chuck Binkowski, Barton Malow Senior Vice President, said, "Our number-one goal on the Holland Energy Park project is safety. We want everyone on the jobsite to return home the same way they arrived to the jobsite. Along with keeping our people safe, we understand the importance of a positive community impact and providing a good experience for the people that live and work in the community that surrounds the project."
