Gunn Joins Ghafari as Senior Healthcare Planner

DEARBORN, MI Ghafari Associates announced that Thomas Gunn, AIA, has joined the firm as a Senior Healthcare Planner. Gunn brings nearly 40 years of architecture, planning and project management experience.
"We are excited to have Tom as a part of the Ghafari team," says Michael Durand, Director of Healthcare Practice. "With his wealth of experience in master facility planning, his expertise will be a great addition to our expanding healthcare services group."
Gunn specializes in the planning, design, and development of innovative and cost-effective healthcare facilities. He led the planning and design of the $125 million Detroit Receiving Hospital and Wayne State University Health Center facility in Detroit, Michigan, in addition to assembling the planning team and jointly developing the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) master plan. He also led the noteworthy expansion and reconfiguration of the emergency department level-one trauma center at Detroit Receiving Hospital. His portfolio also includes the major relocation and redevelopment of Hutzel Women's Hospital in the DMC's Central Campus and the planning and design of many other hospitals.

Gunn studied advanced healthcare planning, information technology, psychology and statistics in the doctoral program at the University of Michigan. He also studied engineering, holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Manitoba and is a Licensed Architect in Michigan.
