RCOC Begins Work on Tienken Road Project
ROCHESTER HILLS, MI The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) will close Tienken Road between Adams and Livernois in Rochester Hills, Michigan, to through traffic for a road construction project. The road is anticipated to re-open to traffic early next month.
The detour for the closure will be Rochester Road to University Drive and Walton Boulevard to Adams Road and vice versa. The Tienken and Adams Road intersection will not be closed during the construction; however, it will be resurfaced in stages and flaggers will direct traffic during this phase of the project.
RCOC, City of Rochester Hills, federal funds, and the Oakland County general government through the Tri-Party Program are funding the $5.3 million project.
The project will include: replacement of the existing pavement; replacement of concrete curbs and gutters; drainage improvements; improvements to the asphalt pathway along the road; traffic light at Tienken and Grandview/Brookwood Lane; traffic light upgrades at Tienken/Brewster and Tienken/Adams; and construction of Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant pedestrian crosswalk ramps.
The contractor for the project is Dan's Excavating of Shelby Township.
