Grand Equipment Expands to Better Serve Their Customers
The only thing that was needed was more room. With business growing and the economy improving, the original 11,040-square-foot building did not leave enough room for Grand Equipment's expanding equipment lines, parts, service needs, or personnel.
Dan Vos Construction Company was contracted to handle the expansion project for Grand Equipment. After construction was complete, Grand Equipment more than doubled the size of their original store.
Grand's newly remodeled building brings an additional 13,650 square feet with another 4,000-square-foot separate building for attachments. The 4,000-square-foot, standalone building includes slab on grade and electrical power for lighting. This building is furnished with racking and is primarily used for equipment storage.
The construction began in April 2014 and was completed in November, with the final remodeling being finished this spring. Nearly 160,000 yards of fill was needed to level the ground to place the building on the property. The expanded equipment yard went from gravel to being paved using Roller Compacted Concrete.
Among the additions and improvements are an expanded entry area; office space for the growing staff; a conference room designed for 21st century communication; a parts warehouse with mezzanine; a hydraulic hose room for manufacturing hoses on site; a heated wash bay with removable floor to get rid of contaminants; and a state-of-the-art service area featuring more service bays, a 5-ton hoist and oil and air stations. The 5-ton hoist rail spans the width and runs the length of the shop and the wash bay is designed to allow a skid steer to be driven into the pit for cleaning purposes.
Other site work included relocating an existing 12-inch water main with new fire hydrants. Landscaping was also done and included new trees, shrubs, and concrete and asphalt hard scape.
