McNally-Nimergood Co. Adds 500-Ton Crane to Growing Rental Fleet
SAGINAW, MI McNally-Nimergood Co. adds a new 500-ton, hydraulic all-terrain crane to its rental fleet with the addition of its Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1, one of the largest mobile hydraulic all-terrain cranes based in Michigan.
"This crane is a terrific addition to our modern fleet. Despite its relative size, the machine is surprisingly maneuverable," said Jeff McNally, President and CEO of McNally-Nimergood. "We spent nearly a year looking into the purchase of a new crane. There are a number of things to consider when buying a piece of equipment this large."
After being manufactured and assembled in Germany, the crane was loaded on a large cargo ship and made its journey to Baltimore, Maryland, where it was loaded onto trucks and transported to Saginaw, Michigan. Thirteen truckloads were required to transport the entire crane to McNally-Nimergood's yard, where it was assembled, tested and placed into service. McNally-Nimergood is the first Michigan-based crane rental provider to feature the LTM 1400-7.1 in its fleet.
McNally-Nimergood's newest crane has a maximum capacity of 500 tons and a maximum reach of 400 vertical feet.
"We had plenty of visitors during the assembly," said McNally, who has been in the construction and crane rental industry for more than 40 years. "You could literally see it from more than a mile away."
The 500-ton crane has been placed into service and has been busy throughout Michigan. It joins a fleet of more than 20 other mobile hydraulic cranes, including the only 130-ton rough terrain crane based in Michigan.
