FTCH Announces Promotions of Qadeer and Willemin
GRAND RAPIDS, MI The Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH) Board of Directors announces the promotion of Kamran Qadeer, PE, and John Willemin, PE, to the positions of Principal. An invitation to the level of Principal is the highest management and leadership honor available at FTCH. It is attained through adherence to the firm's core values and demonstrated ability and leadership over many years of service with the firm.
Kamran Qadeer, PE, Senior Vice President | Principal
Kamran Qadeer, PE, joined FTCH's Civil Engineering Department in February 2009, and brought 20 years of diverse experience in land development, municipal engineering, transportation design, and project management. Qadeer is a licensed engineer in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. He earned a Master of Business Administration in International Business and Finance from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Roorkee, India.
At FTCH, Qadeer's expertise has resulted in promotions to Associate in 2011, and Senior Associate in 2012. He has been instrumental in developing the transportation marketing efforts and is the Transportation Marketing Director and Team Leader for the Transportation and Bridge Teams. His recent responsibilities include business development for transportation in Michigan and Ohio, project management, recruiting, and networking within the industry.
A few of his most notable projects include two recently completed MDOT design/build projects and the current pursuit of the Gordie Howe International Bridge between Detroit and Windsor. He is active with the American Council of Engineering Companies, currently on the Procedures and Practices Committee and past chairman of the Transportation Committee. He is involved with the American Society of Civil Engineers, where he was the past president of the Michigan Section, is a member of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, and volunteers at the city of Novi Construction Board of Appeals. Qadeer has been an Adjunct Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Detroit Mercy for the past three years, where he teaches concrete and steel design.
John Willemin, PE, Senior Vice President | Principal
John Willemin, PE, joined FTCH in November of 1997, working in the Water and Wastewater Department. John first worked as an intern at FTCH, completing three summers with the Civil Field group prior to finishing his degrees. He earned both his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University, and is a licensed engineer in Michigan and Wisconsin.
Willemin has served as a senior design engineer and project manager for many water and wastewater process projects. He became a Technical Team Leader in 2003, and routinely participates in sales and marketing initiatives for the Water and Wastewater Department, including recent efforts with the Great Lakes Water Authority. Currently, he is involved with project management of the city of St. Louis, Michigan's, water supply replacement project that includes water plant expansion, booster pumping stations, wells/well houses, transmission main, and an elevated storage tank. In addition, the city of Ludington is keeping him busy with the expansion of their existing 3.2-MGD conventional plant to an 8-MGD plant using high-rate sedimentation.
Willemin currently serves as the Chair of the Michigan Section of the American Water Works Association and sits on the Professional Advisory Board for Michigan State University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is also a member of the Water Environment Federation. Willemin's capabilities have brought about promotions to Associate in 2006, and Senior Associate in 2009.
