AGC Iowa Fall Days
DES MOINES, IA The annual AGC Iowa Fall Days was once again a great success. The rough weather of the previous day came and went and all attending enjoyed a sunny and warm afternoon with plenty of BBQ and drinks for everyone. At the BBQ, AGC of Iowa's Director of Field Services Ricke Welden was recognized for his 20 years of outstanding service to the association and its members.
The Fall Days BBQ could not have happened without the help of some generous members. Martin Marietta, Merchants Bonding, and Jim Hawk Truck Trailers made the event possible through their sponsorship and were recognized at the event. Additionally, Jim Hawk Truck Trailers purchased the port-a-john sponsorship at the January PAC Auction and they were appropriately recognized for their much appreciated sponsorship.
The Friday session of Fall Days has always featured informative and topical speakers and this year was no different. Iowa Department of Transportation Senior Management attended the annual "Breakfast with the DOT." Mitch Dillavou, Director of the Highway Division, addressed the group, followed by Wes Musgrove, Director of the Office of Contracts, and both took questions from the audience. Greg Mulder and Charlie Purcell both of the DOT attended the meeting and participated in discussions. Murphy Tractor sponsored the day and the crowd enjoyed the discussion.
Other speakers Friday morning were Tim Albrecht of Albrecht Public Relations. Albrecht was Governor Branstad's Communications Director and now runs a media firm specializing in social media. He explained to members the wide variety of social media outlets and how to attract workers through social media. Also, the group heard again from Wes Musgrove and Janet Wasteney from the DOT who discussed and answered questions about contract digital signatures.
