PEC Appoints Surmeier to Civil Department Manager

WICHITA, KS Professional Engineering Consultants announces the promotion of Joseph P. Surmeier, PE, as Manager of their Civil Department. Surmeier replaces Richard Schlitt, who retired after 31 years with PEC.

Colby, Kansas, native Surmeier has 25 years of experience with PEC. Prior to his promotion, Surmeier served as a Municipal Transportation Division Manager. He is a civil engineering graduate of Kansas State University and has been a licensed professional engineer for nearly 20 years.

"Joe has demonstrated his loyalty and dedication for over 25 years to not only PEC, but his team members and most importantly to his valued clients. He brings incredible experience to his new management position and will be an extremely strong mentor to his entire staff. The strength of PEC's Civil Department will undoubtedly continue under the leadership of Joe Surmeier," said Rod Young, President/CEO of PEC.

Surmeier's new responsibilities include overseeing all civil disciplines including municipal transportation, transportation/bridges, municipal and water/wastewater divisions. He will be in charge of financial management, client management, business development, sales management, risk management and strategic planning.
