Historic Junction Shop Reopens as Loft Apartment Community

WORCESTER, MA  Brady Sullivan Properties opens the Junction Shop Lofts on Beacon Street for preleasing. The latest New England mill conversion for the New Hampshire-based real estate developer, the Junction Shop Lofts features more than 170 one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom apartments in the region's second largest city.

"Opening a mill loft community in Worcester is very exciting for all of us at Brady Sullivan Properties," said Arthur Sullivan, Principal of Brady Sullivan Properties. "Worcester has such a rich mill history, and as one of the largest cities in New England with a vibrant entertainment, arts, and education environment, we are proud to be a part of it. As with all of our mill communities, our focus throughout has been to retain the historic integrity of the property, while transforming it into elegant living spaces that embody the modern lifestyle."

The apartment community was created from renovating the Junction Shop complex that was built in 1851. Over the mill's century of operation, it was home to numerous manufacturing companies including the J.S. Wheeler & Co. machinist company; the Taylor & Farley Organ Factory; the Knowles Loom Works; and the Cereal Machine Company. Many of the original elements of the buildings have been preserved and can be seen throughout the apartment homes, including the soaring ceilings, large windows, reclaimed hardwood floors, and the building's signature brick.

Each apartment home features stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, granite countertops, and sophisticated designer paint colors. To create a complete living experience, residents will have access to state-of-the-art amenities, including a fitness center, indoor basketball court, theatre room, indoor putting green, gathering room, and a game room with foosball, billiards, and shuffleboard.

This renovation was the combined effort of Starr Development Partners and Brady Sullivan Properties. Like its sister property, The Lofts at Lancaster Mills in Clinton, Massachusetts, Junction Shop is a registered location on the U.S. Park Service's National Register of Historic Places. The property is conveniently located within a short distance of many of Worcester's colleges, the Hanover Theatre, Union Station, the DCU Center, as well as shopping, dining, and other entertainment venues.
