Acentech Welcomes Murphy as Acoustical Consultant

CAMBRIDGE, MA Acentech, a nationally recognized multi-disciplinary acoustics, audiovisual, IT and security system design, and vibration consulting firm, announces that Kristen Murphy, LEED AP BD+C, has joined the firm as a Consultant in Architectural Acoustics.

"Kristen brings extensive project experience, an architectural background, and complex problem-solving skills to her architectural acoustics work at Acentech," said Benjamin Markham, LEED AP, Director of Acentech's Architectural Acoustics Group. "We are delighted to welcome Kristen to our growing staff of consultants, and we are confident that she will contribute to the unparalleled service we deliver to our clients."

Murphy is an acoustical consultant providing architectural acoustics, mechanical systems noise and vibration control, and environmental noise consulting for educational, healthcare, performing arts, commercial, and residential projects. Her prior experience includes work on more than 100 architectural acoustic and noise control projects for which she conducted field measurements, evaluated acoustical criteria, and provided acoustical recommendations for room finishes, sound isolation construction, and mechanical noise mitigation. At Acentech, her current projects include Brookhaven at Lexington assisted living facility, Billerica High School, University of Vermont Medical Center, and the MIT Site O Mixed-Use Tower.

A member of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), Murphy has served on the Women in Acoustics Committee since 2014. She has presented at ASA meetings, among other venues, and received a commendation for a project presented at a 2011 ASA design competition. The author of several published papers, Murphy received a Master of Science in Architectural Acoustics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Science in architecture from the University of Michigan.
