BOSTON, MA Faithful+Gould announces the Boston Preservation Alliance, otherwise known as "the Alliance," recently selected the Boston University Law Tower as a 2016 Preservation Achievement Award winner. Faithful+Gould provided cost estimating services on this project, which involved extensive renovations to the 18-story, 196,000-square-foot law tower, including a complete exterior restoration and updated interior design and systems.

The Alliance selected this project because renovations to the tower masterfully fulfilled its mission to protect, promote and preserve the vibrant and unique character of historic Boston.

Two of the biggest improvements to the building's systems were replacing the windows with thermally insulated units in addition to rebuilding and updating notoriously slow elevators.

"Faithful+Gould's Boston office has a longstanding relationship with Boston University, and we were happy to be a part of the team that helped restore this iconic campus building to its original stateliness," said Senior Vice President Paul Male. "This renovation and expansion project will allow the university to meet the requirements of a modern legal education while retaining the character of the original building."

The project included a new, 100,000-square-foot, five-story structure, adding an extensive new entrance and glass-enclosed atrium to the building. The completed complex now includes all of the School of Law classrooms, faculty and administrative offices, moot courtrooms, two libraries, a student café and additional studying areas.

Bringing more open space and energy to the building, the design plan was provided by Cambridge, Massachusetts, firm, Bruner/Cott & Associates.
