B&A Hosts Girls 4 Science at New Headquarters Project

CHICAGO, IL Bulley & Andrews (B&A) hosts Girls 4 Science field trip at new corporate headquarters project to learn about the science of building.
As B&A celebrates 125 years in business, they continue to look forward by supporting the construction leaders of tomorrow. B&A hosted 120 young women from Girls 4 Science at their new corporate headquarters project. Ranging in age from 10 years old to 18 years old, they visited the site as part of the non-profit organization's summer programming to educate young women about the "Science of Building."
B&A Superintendent Dennis Houlihan and Assistant Project Managers Tieranny Baker and Jasmine Winston provided building tours. The young women learned about the sustainable methods and materials used in the building and its significance to earning LEED certification. They also learned about the role of a general contractor, as well as the responsibilities and paths Houlihan, Baker, and Winston took to be successful and effective in their respective positions.
Girls 4 Science introduces girls to STEM (science, technology engineering and math) through hands-on lab activities and field trips. Focusing on the "Science of Building" this summer, the girls are learning to read blueprints with the NAWIC (National Society of Women In Construction), understand the heat island effect, and the process of building (design, budget, construction).
B&A supports Girls 4 Science and their commitment to encourage young women to pursue careers in STEM fields.
