BOSTON, MA Consigli Construction Co., Inc., joined Mayor Martin J. Walsh and officials from Eataly to celebrate the grand opening of the Italian marketplace's new 45,000-square-foot store on Boylston Street in downtown Boston, Massachusetts.

"We're excited to be a part of bringing Eataly, a premiere international food and retail destination, to Boston," said Matthew Consigli, President of Consigli Construction Co., Inc. "Located right in the heart of the city, Eataly's prime location in the Prudential Center meant that our work, from the installation of the gold pizza ovens to the more than 120 refrigeration units, had to be done with extreme care and attention to detail. We're proud of our work and look forward to enjoying Eataly for several years to come."

Patrons can enjoy five bars, two cafes and four restaurants. The marketplace offers more than 10,000 artisanal culinary products from around the world.

In order to build Eataly inside the fully operational mall and to accommodate other open stores, Consigli scheduled two separate work shifts with about 100 skilled tradespeople working the site every day. Deliveries were carefully planned out in the early morning hours as well as electrical and water shutoffs for the extensive M/E/P systems installation.

The new marketplace contains more than 58,000 pounds of marble, 31 individual ovens and 126 refrigeration units.

Additionally, more than 160 tons of new steel was installed to support the shop above the Massachusetts Turnpike tunnel running underneath. Construction of Eataly lasted about seven and a half months.
