CHICAGO, IL W.E. O'Neil Chicago awarded its quarterly Safe Site Award to the Children's Memorial Hospital Demolition project team last week. This six-phase demolition project involves extensive safety precautions, which the project team has gone above and beyond to adhere and add to.

With more than 800,000 square feet of existing buildings to demolish, safety and emergency preparedness are at the forefront of the project. Precautions include signage for quarantined areas where asbestos is being abated throughout the complex, frequent meetings between W.E. O'Neil's safety department, the project team and demolition subcontractor, as well as clear evacuation routes should an emergency occur. The project team is also working to keep the surrounding neighbors and community safe. Dust control, fire prevention and close coordination with environmental consultants help keep the Lincoln Park neighborhood safe.

W.E. O'Neil showed much appreciation to the entire project team for their hard work in making this a safe project for job site employees and the surrounding community. W.E. O'Neil provided lunch to all workers at the job site to thank them for their commitment to the safety of the project.
