Stantec Appoints Hughes as Northwest Region Leader
SEATTLE, WA Stantec appoints Sheina Hughes, PE, as Operational Leader of its Northwest Region encompassing Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. With more than 30 years of industry experience, Hughes is responsible for client development and support, operations management and service delivery within all business lines in the region.
Hughes is based in the Seattle, Washington, area, leading nearly 350 professionals from 11 offices.
Prior to assuming her current role, Hughes was a Senior Principal in Stantec's transportation practice based in Phoenix, Arizona, and was responsible for community development and municipal clients in Arizona. She has spent most of her professional career at Stantec, working in both the United States and Canadian operations. She also spent more than a decade working for the city of Chandler, Arizona, one of the fastest growing communities in the country. Hughes served the last five years with the city as the City Engineer. During her tenure, she managed the implementation of a $10 million public-private development agreement that resulted in the redevelopment of a single-use manufacturing site into a multi-tenant technology park. She also was the city's onsite representative during a $5 billion expansion of the Intel facility in the city.
While living and working in Arizona, Hughes was part of the executive board of the Alliance of Construction Excellence, based at Arizona State University. The alliance brings together industry leaders who are dedicated to improving the construction industry. Having worked in both the public and private sectors, Hughes has a unique perspective on the planning, design and project delivery processes.
Hughes is a graduate of the University of Alberta with a degree in civil engineering. She is a registered professional engineer with experience in transportation planning, construction, infrastructure management and information technology throughout the western U.S. and Canada.
