BELLEVUE, WA Julie Hampden joins HNTB Corporation's growing Environmental Planning practice as Science Project Manager, serving as one of the firm's Endangered Species Act leaders. She will provide consultation for ESA compliance for clients in the Pacific Northwest, helping advance projects when ESA-listed species are of concern in project areas. She is based in the firm's Bellevue, Washington, office.

Much of Hampden's educational and professional experience has focused on ESA compliance. She spent the last 17 years with an environmental consulting firm in Seattle, Washington, serving in a variety of roles, including project manager, supervisor, group manager, technical reviewer and mentor.

"Julie offers a rare set of skills - she is both an adept business manager and a passionate environmental expert," said Allison Hanson, HNTB Environmental Department Manager. "With Julie on our team, HNTB's clients not only have a trusted adviser to help meet ESA requirements, they have a resource who understands business processes and truly cares about the region's environmental well-being."

While working for the Seattle environmental consulting firm, Hampden's diverse experiences included serving as a place-based ESA biologist at Washington State Department of Transportation; an interagency liaison at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Marine Fisheries Service completing transportation-related consultations; and consulting for a variety of municipal, state, federal and private clients.

Hampden earned a bachelor's in biological anthropology from Harvard University, graduating cum laude, and a Master of Marine Affairs from the University of Washington.
