Brasfield & Gorrie Breaks Ground on Spring Valley Hospital Expansion and Renovation

LAS VEGAS, NV Brasfield & Gorrie announces that construction is under way on a $28 million renovation and expansion at Spring Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. A groundbreaking ceremony was held to mark the start of work on this project, which will be Brasfield & Gorrie's first in the state of Nevada.
The scope of the project includes a new 88,000-square-foot, four-floor patient tower addition and 15,000 square feet of renovation work. The new patient tower will include an 18-bed post-partum unit on the first floor, a 36-bed surgical unit on the second floor, administrative offices on the fourth floor, and additional shell space for future growth.
The construction team will utilize Integrated Lean Project Delivery (ILPD), a collaborative delivery method involving engagement of all parties throughout the life of a project, from outset to completion. Most commonly used in healthcare construction projects, integrated project delivery has been shown to improve construction efficiency, risk management, and predictability of cost and schedule. ILPD takes the method one step further to eliminate waste throughout the entire project lifecycle.
"During the course of work, the team will continually seek opportunities to eliminate waste and increase efficiency," said Brasfield & Gorrie Senior Project Manager David Craddock.
Serving as general contractor, Brasfield & Gorrie is teaming with owner Universal Health Services and HGA Architects and Engineers on this project. Construction is expected to complete in late 2016.
