LAS VEGAS, NV R&O Construction won the "Change is Good" award at Nevada Business Magazine's fifth annual Family-Owned Business Awards held at the Springs Preserve in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The award is given to a business that has moved on to the second generation or further and has successfully utilized the younger generation's ideas.

Chairman of the Board and founder Orluff Opheikens started the company in 1980 and has since handed the reigns over to his sons Slade and Chet Opheikens.

"Our father started us in construction when we were 12 years old doing landscaping and cleaning up projects," R&O President and CEO Slade Opheikens said. "We worked our way up learning the trades including concrete and framing until we had enough experience to start managing and directing the company."

R&O has offices in Ogden and Salt Lake City, Utah, and Las Vegas.

"Chet and I strive to build upon the foundations our father started by delivering projects that leave lasting, positive impressions and develop outstanding client relationships," Slade said. "Our current success is, in large part, due to being able to put together the greatest group of employees our company has ever had. Together we will continue to build relationships and projects that leave a lasting legacy."
