SALT LAKE CITY, UT OZ Architecture along with Salt Lake City, Utah, -based Langvardt Design Group were selected by Replay Resorts, the master developer for Canyons Village on behalf of TCFC Finance Co LLC, to revitalize the resort by creating a new master plan and design guidelines that will direct its future development.

In all, the master plan envisions a series of new buildings on 20 parcels in the resort community containing more than 495 acres of land. The goal of the plan is to address the village and adjacent resort areas, taking into account how the buildings connect and relate to one another, ensuring roads, lifts and pedestrian areas intermingle seamlessly and create both enhanced auto access as well as pedestrian friendly zones for future retail, and lodging. The new master plan will ensure that the Park City and Utah outdoor adventure experience will truly be launched from Canyons Village.

Plans are well underway to transform the Canyons Village into a vibrant four-season center of recreation, celebration and imagination. Space is being set aside in the plan for a proposed conference center, which will host year-round events. Additionally a proposed aquatic center in the village could provide families yet another four-season place to play, with a state-of-the-art pool and water facilities.

The Canyon Village's original master plan was developed more than 20 years ago and was in need of updates to better serve today and tomorrow's resort-goers. The new plan accommodates the area's changing traffic patterns and creates new mountain and lift access portals. Plans for new lodge buildings will include one to four bedroom condominium units with flexibility to match the market.

Rebecca Stone, Managing Principal at OZ Architecture and head of the company's Resort and Hospitality practice said, "With the team, we're looking at it from a 30,000-foot view to create a vibrant community that's a portal to the wide variety of outdoor adventures Park City offers throughout the year. This refreshed master plan takes into account Canyon Village's long-term vision and will guide how the resort plans to grow over the next five to fifteen years, reflecting a more cosmopolitan and sophisticated look and feel, yet keeping the Park City and the Utah vibe."

Gary Raymond, the Managing Director of Replay Resorts said, "Together, the designers, architects and our team are envisioning buildings that will meet a variety of long-term needs in Park City, taking-on a more contemporary mountain design to keep fresh with the buyers expectations, and that will match the market's demand for program for years to come. OZ and Langvardt Design Group's expertise is guiding us toward a new vision for the future of the resort as we work to make the Canyons Village a true year round destination that meets the needs of 21st century guests."

"The opportunity exists to create an authentic year round resort at Canyons Village with world class skiing, championship golf, maybe the best mountain biking in the west, hiking, and a true mountain village that will be ground zero for all of these activities," said Eric Langvardt of Langvardt Design Group. "The master plan is focusing on the creation of a pedestrian-scaled walkable village with outdoor spaces and amenities, shops and activities that will come together to become the destination in Park City.  The plan is to create those special places that you want to come back to enjoy year after year."
