Groundbreaking Ceremony Held at Fountain Valley School

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and members of the iiCON Construction Group and construction teams were all on hand at Fountain Valley School (FVS) in Colorado Springs for groundbreaking ceremonies kicking off construction of a new 60,000-square-foot athletic facility. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in the school's current gymnasium which speaker and former FVS graduate, Dr. Darryl Thatcher, joked was state-of-the-art at the time it was built in 1952.
The new athletic facility will feature competition lap and diving pools, an expanded gymnasium with a second floor running track, competition rock climbing facilities, fitness facilities, classrooms, offices, locker rooms, concessions, gathering spaces and a lounge for the students and staff.
Greg Collier, President of iiCON Construction Group whose company is leading the $22 million campus makeover, said the work they are doing on the campus is bringing it into the 21st century. In addition to the new athletic facility, new housing facilities are being added for faculty and updates have been made to utilities across the campus including burying overhead electric lines. The athletic center is anticipated to be complete late summer/early fall of 2018.
