Sundt Foundation Awards Grants to San Antonio Charities
SAN ANTONIO, TX As part of its effort to help build strong communities, the Sundt Foundation donated more than $10,000 to four family-focused nonprofit organizations in San Antonio this quarter. Employee donations, matched dollar-for-dollar by the company, fund Sundt Foundation grants.
Sundt employees personally visited and presented grants to the charities as part of Sundt's commitment to improve the communities where it operates. The Sundt Foundation awarded grants to the following San Antonio nonprofit organizations:
St. Jude's Ranch for Children's mission is to transform the lives of abused and at-risk children, young adults and families by empowering them to create new chances, new choices and new hope in a caring community. The $2,300 grant will help St. Jude's Ranch provide targeted trauma-informed care in a stable environment and fund therapeutic services, medical and dental care and educational support.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas, Inc. received a $2,300 grant to support its $10 million campaign to build a South Texas Mentoring Resource Center, providing the space and infrastructure needed for expansion in the San Antonio and South Texas area.
Greater San Antonio After-School All-Stars will use the funds from a $3,200 grant to purchase age-appropriate and interesting books designed to improve the reading and comprehension skills of the students they serve. The goal of the organization is to provide comprehensive out-of-school programs that keep children safe and help them achieve in school and in life.
Family Violence Prevention Services' mission is to break the cycle of violence and to strengthen families by providing the necessary tools for self-sufficiency through delivery of emergency shelter, transitional housing, education and specialized intervention. Its Battered Women and Children's Shelter, which received a $2,500 grant, is a 24-hour crisis intervention and emergency shelter for adults and children providing case management services, professional individual and group counseling, on-site school, on-site medical and dental care, parenting education and group services.
"These nonprofit organizations were carefully chosen because they embody the Sundt mission," Sundt Senior Vice President and Texas District Manager John Carlson said. "Sundt is proud to support charities that are deeply committed to supporting the development of our community and helping those in need."
